It is an alternative to belt mounting that gives emergency preparedness decon teams a hands-free way to deploy the system. Acting as both a carrier and a blower suspension system, it improves ergonomics and reduces wearer fatigue.
When the system is not in use, the backpack serves as a storage pack for the Sentinel XL CBRN system components. The lay-flat butyl hood is designed to stow easily in the backpack.
The backpack is included in the Sentinel XL CBRN Deluxe PAPR Systems with alkaline battery and with rechargeable NiMH battery, and in the Sentinel XL HP Deluxe System (S-3000-02). It is also available individually for compatible Sentinel XL systems.
