Used with the Sentinel XL blower and three CBRN CAP 2 cartridges, it forms part of the NIOSH-approved CBRN CAP 2 configuration with a 10,000 LRPL, designed for emergency preparedness decon teams, including hospital decon and first receiver teams.
The hood is made of butyl-coated fabric with sewn and taped seams and an impact-resistant, optical-grade polycarbonate visor. Its flexible breathing tube, reinforced with a butyl sheath, is an integral part of the hood, and a single M40-style silicone exhaust valve sits under a plastic valve cover.
The single-size hood requires no fit testing. A cushioned, replaceable antimicrobial head strap with five adjustment positions supports a wide range of wearers, and an adjustable draw cord secures the hood. The lay-flat design reduces storage issues and lets the hood stow easily in the Sentinel XL Backpack.
NIOSH approvals apply to specific assemblies of approved components, so use the S-2001 hood with the Sentinel XL Blower Assembly and S-2016 CBRN CAP 2 cartridges. To convert a Sentinel XL HP system, the hood also comes in the Sentinel XL CBRN PAPR Conversion Kit with three cartridges and the CAP 2 user's manual.

All Sentinel XL hoods and head covers are latex free and are part of an air-purifying system that does not supply oxygen, so none are for use in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. NIOSH approvals apply to complete assemblies: use each hood or head cover only in the Sentinel configurations listed on the approval label, and follow the user instructions.
