Classified as HEPA and P100, they remove at least 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger, which covers bacteria, respiratory aerosols and fine powders. The filter media is strongly resistant to oil, and each cartridge threads into a 40 mm port on the Sentinel XL blower.
Use them where the only hazard is airborne particles: infectious disease and airborne isolation care, outbreak response, and pharmaceutical work such as blending, milling, weighing and dispensing where powders are handled with no gas or vapor present. On the Sentinel XL, they pair with the Sentinel XL Head Cover (APF 25), the Sentinel XL Clear Hood and the Sentinel XL BioShield Full Hood (APF 1,000), and they come with every Sentinel XL HP system and HP conversion kit.
HEPA cartridges do not protect against gases or vapors. If solvent vapors or acid gases are present, use Sentinel XL Organic Vapor/Acid Gas/HEPA Cartridges (S-4012), which add chemical protection to HEPA filtration. For CBRN work, use Sentinel XL CBRN CAP 2 Cartridges (S-2016) with the CBRN butyl hood.
Each Sentinel blower takes 2 cartridges, so 25 packs of 2 give you 25 complete changes, sized for emergency departments, central supply and outbreak reserve. For departmental stock, choose 3 packs of 2. Check airflow with the Sentinel Flow Meter before use.
ILC Dover recommends inspecting your system after each use. Replace any cartridge with mechanical damage, and change cartridges out according to your location's change-out schedule and the user instructions.

All Sentinel cartridges are air-purifying and do not supply oxygen, so none are for use in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. Use each cartridge only in the Sentinel configurations listed on its NIOSH approval label, and follow the user instructions.
