Sentinel XL CBRN CAP 2 Cartridges (Pack of 3)

The Sentinel XL CBRN CAP 2 Cartridges (S-2016) are the filters for the Sentinel XL CBRN PAPR, the only loose-fitting PAPR designed to deliver a CAP 2 rating. They protect against chemical warfare agents, toxic industrial chemicals, biological threats and nuclear particulates, and are used with the Sentinel XL CBRN Butyl Hood Assembly with Breathing Tube (S-2001).

CAP 2 is a NIOSH capacity rating for CBRN cartridges. It means the S-2016 met the 30-minute minimum service life required in NIOSH bench testing, twice the 15 minutes required for CAP 1. Bench-test service life is a rating, not a promise of time in the field, so follow the user instructions and your program's change-out rules.

Three cartridges thread into the 40 mm ports on the Sentinel XL blower, so each pack is one full set, and each cartridge comes in a hermetically sealed foil pouch. They are used by hospital decon teams and emergency departments receiving contaminated casualties, hazmat and emergency response units, and government and military CBRN programs.

If you already use Sentinel XL HP systems, the Sentinel XL CBRN PAPR Conversion Kit (S-5000-05) adds the butyl hood and a first set of CBRN cartridges to the same blower, and this pack restocks the cartridges. Complete Sentinel XL CBRN systems are available in the Standard configuration with an alkaline battery pack or with a rechargeable NiMH battery, and in the Deluxe backpack configuration.

CBRN cartridges are for the CBRN hood configuration only. With Sentinel XL head covers and hoods, use Sentinel HEPA P100 Cartridges (S-4002) for particulates or Sentinel XL Organic Vapor/Acid Gas/HEPA Cartridges (S-4012) for organic vapors and acid gases.

ILC Dover recommends inspecting your system after each use. Replace any cartridge with mechanical damage, and change cartridges out according to your location's change-out schedule and the user instructions.

Which Sentinel cartridge do I need?

All three cartridge types thread into the same 40 mm ports on the Sentinel XL blower, so the choice comes down to the hazard you are protecting against.

All Sentinel cartridges are air-purifying and do not supply oxygen, so none are for use in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. Use each cartridge only in the Sentinel configurations listed on its NIOSH approval label, and follow the user instructions.
