A hospital that already runs Sentinel XL HP PAPRs for infectious-disease protection can equip its decon team on the same blower platform, reducing costs and simplifying equipment inventory.
The kit replaces the head cover or hood, breathing tube and HEPA cartridges with the lay-flat Sentinel XL CBRN Butyl Hood Assembly with Breathing Tube, whose breathing tube is an integral part of the hood, and a full set of three CBRN CAP 2 cartridges. The blower, battery and waist belt stay in place. Assembled on the Sentinel XL blower, the kit provides the CBRN CAP 2 protection of the Sentinel XL CBRN systems, with a 10,000 LRPL against military warfare agents, biological threats, industrial chemical threats and nuclear particulate threats.
The single-size butyl hood requires no fit testing, and its cushioned antimicrobial head strap has five adjustment positions to support a wide range of wearers. The lay-flat design reduces storage issues.
Teams without an existing Sentinel XL system can choose a complete Sentinel XL CBRN Standard PAPR System or Sentinel XL CBRN Deluxe PAPR System instead.

Which Sentinel XL conversion kit do I need?
A conversion kit changes what a Sentinel XL protects against without replacing the system. The blower, battery and waist belt stay in place, and you swap the head top and the cartridges.

Every kit fits the same Sentinel XL blower. The blower, battery and waist belt are not included, so you need an existing system or the Sentinel XL HP PAPR Base Kit. The four HP and HD kits supply the S-4005 breathing tube; the CBRN kit's breathing tube is part of the butyl hood and the kit also includes the CBRN CAP 2 user's manual. All head tops are single size, loose fitting, latex free and need no fit testing. These are air-purifying configurations that do not supply oxygen, so none are for use in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. NIOSH approvals apply to complete assemblies: use each kit only in the Sentinel configurations listed on the approval label, and follow the user instructions.
