It converts a compatible Sentinel XL system, such as the Sentinel XL HP Base Kit (S-3000-12) or a Sentinel XL CBRN system, to a BioShield full hood HP configuration with HEPA filtration.
The BioShield Full Hood was designed in collaboration with leading healthcare organizations for Ebola protection. It has an assigned protection factor (APF) of 1,000, or 100 times the protection of an N95, and requires no fit testing.
The protective hood and its sewn and taped seams pass ASTM F1670-14 and ASTM F1671-13 testing for synthetic blood and blood-borne pathogen penetration. Internal and external skirts interface with most protective suits. PAPR airflow vents between the two skirts, and the skirt and exhaust system inflates the suit for improved protection and comfort. The hood is made from coated, spun-bonded polyolefin, is latex-free and comes in a single size.
The Sentinel XL with BioShield hood is also NIOSH approved with OV/AG/HE cartridges (S-4012). The Sentinel XL BioShield Full Hood Hazardous Drug Conversion Kit (S-3000-31) pairs the same hood with OV/AG/HE cartridges.
