Hood and filters are not included. The kit is NIOSH approved when used with the S-3101 Clear Hood, the S-2028 BioShield Full Hood or the S-4001 Head Cover, each of which is compatible with S-4002 HEPA and S-4012 OV/AG/HE cartridges.
The S-4001 White Head Cover has an assigned protection factor (APF) of 25, or 2.5 times the protection of an N95, and is compatible with stethoscopes. The S-3101 Clear Hood and S-2028 BioShield Full Hood each have an APF of 1,000, or 100 times the protection of an N95. The BioShield hood's sewn and taped seams pass ASTM F1670-14 and ASTM F1671-13 testing. HEPA cartridges are used for infectious-disease protection, and OV/AG/HE cartridges for hazardous-drug protection.
The rechargeable NiMH battery pack has a nominal run time of up to 8 hours, approximately 500 charge/discharge cycles and a 5-hour nominal recharge time. The included smart battery charger switches automatically to trickle charge and indicates status with a red/green LED. The rugged, dual-chamber blower delivers more than 230 lpm in HP hood systems.
