The BioShield full hood was designed in collaboration with leading healthcare organizations to meet their respiratory protection needs for Ebola protection. It has an assigned protection factor (APF) of 1,000, or 100 times the protection of an N95, and requires no fit testing when used in an approved system configuration. The hood and its sewn and taped seams pass ASTM F1670-14 and ASTM F1671-13 testing, which the CDC requires for protection against synthetic blood and blood-borne pathogen penetration. Internal and external skirts interface with most protective suits, PAPR airflow vents between the two skirts, and the skirt and exhaust system inflates the suit for improved protection and comfort. The hood offers excellent stability and fit for a range of operations, with an ultra-clear PET visor and a cushioned head strap in a single size.
The BioShield full hood connects to the Sentinel XL blower with the S-4005 breathing tube and is used with S-4002 HEPA cartridges for infectious-disease protection or S-4012 OV/AG/HE cartridges for hazardous-drug protection. The Sentinel XL HP BioShield Full Hood PAPR Conversion Kit includes a BioShield full hood, breathing tube and HEPA cartridges, and the Sentinel XL HD BioShield Full Hood PAPR Conversion Kit pairs the hood with OV/AG/HE cartridges. The BioShield full hood is also sold in a pack of 3.
ILC Dover recommends inspecting your system after each use. Replace any BioShield full hood with tears or punctures, including in the stitching, or with visor scratches or distortions that make it difficult to see through.

All Sentinel XL hoods and head covers are latex free and are part of an air-purifying system that does not supply oxygen, so none are for use in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. NIOSH approvals apply to complete assemblies: use each hood or head cover only in the Sentinel configurations listed on the approval label, and follow the user instructions.
