The Sentinel XL Clear Hood has an assigned protection factor (APF) of 1,000, or 100 times the protection of an N95, and requires no fit testing.
The clear hood design provides a 320-degree field of view for increased safety. The hood has no internal suspension system for increased comfort and accommodates most head, hearing and eye protection. Like all Sentinel XL hoods and head covers, it is latex-free.
The alkaline battery pack holds standard D-cell batteries, which increases readiness: there is nothing to charge, and the pack is rated for a nominal 10 hours per set of five batteries. The rugged, dual-chamber Sentinel XL blower delivers more than 230 lpm in HP hood systems, and a low-voltage alarm with a flashing LED and buzzer alerts the wearer.
For hazardous-drug protection, the Clear Hood can be used with S-4012 OV/AG/HE cartridges (sold separately). The Sentinel XL platform can also be converted to support hospital decon operations with the S-5000-05 CBRN conversion kit.
