The clear hood has an assigned protection factor (APF) of 1,000, or 100 times the protection of an N95, and requires no fit testing when used in an approved system configuration. The clear hood design provides a 320-degree field of view for increased safety. The hood has no internal suspension system, for increased comfort, accommodates most head, hearing and eye protection, and comes in a single size.
The clear hood connects to the Sentinel XL blower with the S-4005 breathing tube and is used with S-4002 HEPA cartridges for infectious-disease protection or S-4012 OV/AG/HE cartridges for hazardous-drug protection. The Sentinel XL HP Clear Hood PAPR Conversion Kit includes a clear hood, breathing tube and HEPA cartridges. The clear hood is also sold in a pack of 3.
ILC Dover recommends inspecting your system after each use. Replace any clear hood with tears or punctures, including in the stitching, or with visor scratches or distortions that make it difficult to see through.

All Sentinel XL hoods and head covers are latex free and are part of an air-purifying system that does not supply oxygen, so none are for use in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. NIOSH approvals apply to complete assemblies: use each hood or head cover only in the Sentinel configurations listed on the approval label, and follow the user instructions.
