Sentinel PAPR Systems, Components and SCape Escape Respirators
ILC Dover respiratory protection brings two product families together in one place. Sentinel powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR) are available as complete HP and CBRN systems, as conversion kits that change a system's configuration, and as the individual components it takes to run and maintain one: hoods and head covers, HEPA P100, OV/AG/HE and CBRN cartridges, blower, batteries and charger, and the accessories that keep a unit comfortable and verified before use. SCape air-purifying escape respirators provide 30 minutes of NIOSH-approved protection for leaving a contaminated area. Everything here is sold direct by ILC Dover, the manufacturer.
Complete Sentinel XL Systems
Every complete system includes the Sentinel XL blower, a flow meter, a breathing tube and a Quick-Loc waist belt, packed in a duffel bag or the Sentinel Backpack. The head top, cartridges and battery depend on the configuration:

For the CBRN systems, the first SKU is the alkaline version and the second the NiMH version. The Sentinel XL CBRN is the only NIOSH-approved Cap 2 loose-fitting CBRN PAPR.

Sentinel cartridges come in three types. Which one you need is set by the hazard and the configuration you are running, not by preference.
Sentinel HEPA Cartridges

Remove at least 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger.
Use with: the head cover, clear hood and BioShield hood, for particulates only.
Sentinel XL OV/AG/HE Cartridges

Organic vapors and acid gases, with built-in HE filtration. Not for ammonia or formaldehyde.
Use with: HP head covers and hoods, including the hazardous drug configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these genuine ILC Dover parts?
Yes. Every product in this category is made and sold by ILC Dover. NIOSH approvals apply to specific assemblies of approved components, so replacement hoods, cartridges and batteries should be the parts specified for your configuration.
Can I buy a complete Sentinel XL system?
Yes. Complete HP systems come with a head cover, clear hood or BioShield full hood, and complete CBRN systems come in Standard and Backpack configurations with alkaline or NiMH power. The HP Base Kit supplies the hardware without a hood or cartridges, so it can be finished with a conversion kit. Every component can also be ordered individually.
What is a Sentinel conversion kit?
A conversion kit supplies the head top, breathing tube and cartridges for one configuration on a compatible Sentinel XL system. Kits are available for the head cover, clear hood, BioShield full hood, hazardous drug and CBRN configurations, so a blower and battery already in service can be moved to a new application.
Which cartridge do I need: HEPA, OV/AG/HE or CBRN?
It depends on the hazard and the configuration. HEPA P100 cartridges are for particulate and biological protection with the HP head cover, clear hood and BioShield hood. OV/AG/HE cartridges are for HP configurations where organic vapors or acid gases are also present. 40mm CBRN cartridges are for CBRN configurations using the butyl hood assembly.
Should I choose a rechargeable or alkaline battery pack?
Rechargeable NiMH suits units in daily use: up to 8 hours per charge, recharged in the blower with the Smart Battery Charger. The alkaline pack suits reserve or infrequently used units, because it runs on standard D-cells for up to 10 hours and does not depend on a charging routine.
Is the Sentinel XL blower sold separately?
Yes. The Sentinel XL Blower Assembly (S-2002) is available on its own, and it works with both the rechargeable and alkaline battery packs.
Are Sentinel and SCape products latex free?
Yes. ILC Dover's PAPR systems and accessories are latex free across the Sentinel XT, Sentinel XE, Sentinel XL and SCape product lines.
