Sentinel PAPR Components and SCape Escape Respirators

ILC Dover respiratory protection brings two product families together in one place. Sentinel powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) components cover what it takes to run and maintain a PAPR: hoods and head covers, HEPA P100 and CBRN cartridges, blower, batteries and charger, and the accessories that keep a unit comfortable and verified before use. SCape air-purifying escape respirators provide 30 minutes of NIOSH-approved protection for leaving a contaminated area. Everything here is sold direct by ILC Dover, the manufacturer.

PAPR Hoods and Head Covers

Four Sentinel head tops span the protection levels most programs need. None of them requires fit testing.

• Sentinel HP Head Cover (Pack of 3 or Pack of 25) - assigned protection factor 25. One size, works with a stethoscope.
• Sentinel XL HP Clear Hood (Pack of 3) - 100 times the protection of an N95 and a 320 degree field of view, with no internal suspension.
• Sentinel XL BioShield Full Hood (Pack of 3 or Pack of 25) - protection factor 1,000, taped seams, and skirts that interface with most suits.
• Sentinel XL CBRN Butyl Hood Assembly with Breathing Tube - the head top for CBRN configurations, with a lay-flat design and adjustable head band.

PAPR Filters and Cartridges

Sentinel cartridges come in two types. Which one you need is set by the configuration you are running, not by preference.

• Sentinel HEPA Cartridges (3 Pack of 2 or 25 Pack of 2) - HEPA P100 filters that remove at least 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger. Used with the head covers and particulate hoods above.
• Sentinel CBRN Cartridges, 3 EA - 40mm threaded cartridges rated against military warfare agents and biological, industrial chemical and nuclear particulate threats. Used with the butyl hood.

PAPR Blower, Batteries and Charger

• Sentinel XL Blower Assembly - a rugged dual chamber PAPR blower that accepts a range of head covers and hoods and runs on either battery type.
• Sentinel XL Rechargeable NiMH Battery Pack - up to 8 hours of runtime per charge.
• Sentinel XL Alkaline Battery Pack - an adapter that runs on five standard D-cells, supplied with the batteries, for up to 10 hours.
• Sentinel XL Smart Battery Charger - charges the NiMH pack while it stays fitted to the blower.

PAPR Accessories

• 19” Extendable Breathing Tube - extends from 19 to 48 inches in one size. Latex-free thermoplastic polyurethane.
• Quick-Loc Waist Belt - clicks onto Sentinel XL and XT blowers, with an easy-clean polymeric finish.
• Sentinel Flow Meter - confirms blower airflow before use, for Sentinel XL and XT blowers.

Converting a Sentinel for CBRN Work

The Sentinel XL CBRN Conversion Kit turns a Sentinel HP system into a configuration for CBRN and hospital decontamination operations. In the kit: the butyl hood assembly with breathing tube, three CBRN cartridges and the CBRN CAP 2 user's manual. The Sentinel XL CBRN is a NIOSH CAP 2 CBRN PAPR, tested against live warfare agents. SCape Escape Respirators

Two NIOSH-approved air-purifying escape respirators round out the range. The SCape CBRN30 Air Purifying Escape Respirator (TC-14G-0277) covers CBRN threats, and the SCape CO/CBRN30 Air Purifying Escape Respirator (TC-14G-0312) adds carbon monoxide. Frequently Asked Questions

Are these genuine ILC Dover parts?

Yes. Every product in this category is made and sold by ILC Dover. NIOSH approvals apply to specific assemblies of approved components, so replacement hoods, cartridges and batteries should be the parts specified for your configuration.

Which cartridge do I need, HEPA or CBRN?

It depends on the configuration. Sentinel HEPA P100 cartridges are for particulate and biological protection with the HP head cover, clear hood and BioShield hood. Sentinel 40mm CBRN cartridges are for CBRN configurations using the butyl hood assembly.

Should I choose a rechargeable or alkaline battery pack?

Rechargeable NiMH suits units in daily use: up to 8 hours per charge, recharged in the blower with the Smart Battery Charger. The alkaline pack suits reserve or infrequently used units, because it runs on standard D-cells for up to 10 hours and does not depend on a charging routine.

Is the Sentinel XL blower sold separately?

Yes. The Sentinel XL Blower Assembly (S-2002) is available on its own, and it works with both the rechargeable and alkaline battery packs.

Can I buy a complete Sentinel XL system?

Are Sentinel and SCape products latex free?

Yes. ILC Dover's PAPR systems and accessories are latex free across the Sentinel XT, Sentinel XE, Sentinel XL and SCape product lines.
